As Storm Ciara bared her teeth yesterday evening, it was no match for the boys of our U-13 squad and their opponents from Geraldines in Louth.

47 brave souls turned up and played under the lights in Piltown and gave a real exhibition in football under the conditions they had to play in.

Initially we had plans for 2 games but with some late drop offs on the Gers squad we managed a mixed game between the subs whilst playing a 15 a side match on the main pitch, so there was football for all.

With horizontal rain and the gale blowing diagonally from the cage down to the graveyard, one would have expected the majority of the match to be played at that end. But no, both teams when playing against the wind managed to play good football and managed to score well also.

Cilles ran out victors in the end with a score line of 3.05 to 1.08

Well done to all of the lads last night and to all of our supporters who braved the elements.
